HOME
I'm staring out into the night,
And trying to hide the pain.
I'm going to the place where love
and feeling good don't ever cost a thing,
And the pain you feel's a different kind of pain.
I'm going home to the place where I belong,
where your love has always been enough for me.
I'm running from you know I think you got me all wrong,
I don't regret this life I chose for me.
But these places and these faces are getting old,
So I'm going home.

A sinner by default.
I'm a sinner by default, born and bred in a generation of dsyfunctional families and rabid materialism, to a country obssessed with paper qualifications and academic excellence. I live in a world that's hell bent on the destruction of mankind, and whose idea of superiority is dictated by the number of nuclear weapons in a country's arsenal. I grew up in a society where the worth of a man is determined by his productivity, to a nation of parents who judge the success of their offsprings and others by the number of abbreviations (C.E.O, M.D, P.H.D etc) behind their names.
And you wonder why we are an extremely high strung and prozac dependent generation on the verge of a physco-emotional breakdown?
I don't. Not when we have suicidal 8 year olds and 16 year old mass murderers. Not when clinical depression has become just another trendy fashion accessory, along with brooches, bracelets and necklances. Not when the pursuit of individual happiness has led to a whole damned generation of children growing up in broken homes or living in a facade of normality while their parents practice serial monogamy.
Don't misunderstand. Everyone has a right to be happy, that much is for certain. But what do we do, what should we do when our pursuit of this elusive state of mind causes irreversible damage to certain individuals?
In this time and place, happiness seems cheap - literally - and often comes with a price tag attached. But what do we do when our happiness comes at a price of other's misfortunes?
Hmms.
It's been 3 and a half days since the end of the midyears. Well it isn't the end technically, since there's still biology paper 1 on friday, but you know how it goes (no one really cares) - gosh, so much for nerding! I've watched scary movie 4 and superman returns, compensated for the sleep debt accumulated during the week (plus interest), spent (a little) time with my family and ate more than I should. I think that's pretty productive, don't you?
Busy days ahead. =/
